Serena is a personal task manager with an AI assistant, developed by SoftwareGirona, S.L. (Girona, Spain). This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and what control you have over it.
In short: your tasks are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud. We cannot read them. Chat messages you send to the assistant travel through our server to an AI provider so they can be answered, and they are not stored. We show no ads and use no analytics or tracking.

What we do NOT do
- We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing.
- We do not read your tasks: they are in your private iCloud, out of our reach.
- We do not store the content of your chat messages on our server.
3. AI processing
The app processes simple captures (for example, "buy bread tomorrow") on your device using Apple Intelligence when your device supports it. That text never leaves your device.
Anything more complex is answered by an AI model in the cloud. In that case your message, together with the tasks needed to answer it, is sent to our server (serenaproxy.softwaregirona.com) and forwarded to our AI provider, DeepSeek, whose servers are located in China. This is an international transfer outside the European Economic Area. Neither our server nor we keep a copy of the message content; our server records only technical data (account identifier, model used, number of tokens, status codes) to apply your usage allowance and detect abuse.
Please avoid sending especially sensitive information (health, financial data, credentials) in the chat.
4. Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Our server only receives, from Apple, a signed receipt confirming that your subscription is active and when it expires.
5. Legal basis (GDPR)
- Performance of a contract: handling your account, your tasks and your subscription, so the app can work.
- Legitimate interest: preventing abuse and keeping the service secure and available.
- Consent: microphone and notifications, which you grant in the system and can revoke at any time.
6. How long we keep it
- Tasks: for as long as you keep them; deleting them in the app removes them from your device and your iCloud.
- Account and usage counters: while your account is active, and up to 12 months after your last use.
- Chat messages: not stored.
- Technical logs: up to 30 days.
7. Your rights
You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection regarding your data by writing to info@softwaregirona.com. You can also delete your data yourself: sign out and delete the app, and revoke access in Settings → Apple Account → Sign in with Apple. Deleting the app removes the local data; your iCloud data is removed by deleting it in iCloud settings.
If you believe your data is not being handled properly, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
8. Children
Serena is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be announced within the app.
